Squalane for skin: Is it worth the hype?
Every year a new skincare ingredient takes the market by storm but let us tell you one such ingredient that is here to stay.
All Hail- Squalane!
Squalane is an emollient which is similar to our skin’s natural oils. We have 12% Squalene (Note: Squalene, not Squalane, we will differentiate the two later in the blog) in our skin at birth but the production of it declines as we age. The problem is, Squalene is highly unstable and goes rancid fast. So it is not suitable for skincare products in its original form! Well, Skincare Gods heard our prayers and ta-da!
When Squalene undergoes hydrogenation processing, it becomes extremely stable and resistant to oxidation- and that, fellow explorers, is how Squalene becomes Squalane!
Squalene and Squalane- There is more difference between them than just one letter 😉
(Fun Fact: Squalane is great as a moisturizing ingredient because of the fact that it is a strong lipid which helps to lock moisture into the skin)
1) Squalane for hydration.
Hydrated skin is healthy skin. So, when applied generously, Squalane has tremendous beauty benefits. Boosting hydration can help your skin appear more vibrant and healthier. As your body produces less and less squalene, dry skin can become a normal occurrence. However, natural skincare ingredients mimicking your body’s natural sebum can boost hydration and increase your moisture level. This can result in healthier-looking skin and hair and help improve a variety of skin conditions.
2) Squalane for anti-ageing.
Sqaulane based oils and creams contain antioxidants, which help fight skin damage and free radicals, which are notoriously known for accelerating the ageing process. Squalane in skincare can reduce wrinkles, eliminate scars, reverse UV damage, lighten freckles and erase skin pigmentation, all while fighting free radicals. The skin readily receives the serum and while it does provide superior hydration, it’s lightweight enough for all skin types and will never feel heavy or greasy on the skin. Because its molecular structure is so close to the skin’s own, Squalane oil penetrates deep into the pores where it targets your skin care concerns at a cellular level. Now that’s a revolutionary ingredient for all your skin care needs.
3) Squalane for all-round goodness.
Squalane is a skin detoxifier. Regular use can boost collagen production, resulting in firmer skin. It balances oil production, providing just enough moisture to keep your skin clear and healthy. Squalane used in our range of products, is highly-effective emollient and natural antioxidant. Historically, they have been used in the medical field to treat wounds and skin problems. In fact, on some people it can even be used as a spot treatment. Need we say more?
Did we mention it has moisture locking benefits, like a hydration bomb every time you use it? What about it penetrating the skin-barrier in the most effective way possible? Also did we forget to tell you about it being a non-comedogenic quality that prevents acne and clogging of pores? The obsession is REAL, and we’ll never be able to round up all the great things we love about this ingredient all at once. Hence, we’re asking you to join the journey in exploring this newly discovered secret. Our new range of Squalane products help all your unique skin needs like a warm hug. And that’s why it is here to stay!
Those are enough reasons for us to fall in love with Squalane! Stay tuned as we help you pick Squalane based products soon.
